Budget 2010

On the 9th November 2009, the Minister of Finance, Tonio Fenech started off his presentation of the Budget for 2010 by commemorating the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. He noted that facing a scenario of international turmoil, the Budget looks forward and faces these challenges with courage, prudence and responsibility. Nevertheless economic uncertainty prevails throughout this struggle for economic growth. The 2010 Budget has 6 aims:

  1. Increase economic, fiscal and price stability to increase competition
  2. Create prosperity & work by incentivizing productive investment
  3. Investing in health & social security
  4. Investing in education, training & building talents
  5. Investing in infrastructure, environment, historical & cultural heritage
  6. Promoting Gozo as an ecological island
